Mission Statement

The mission of the NM EPSCoR program is to gather resources and expertise from academic institutions, our national labs, private industry, and state and federal sources to benefit education, the environment, and the New Mexico economy. NM EPSCoR focuses on assuring that New Mexicans gain access to superior education, state-of-the-art research, and the quality of life and employment that comes with an active and competitive science and technology base.

Between 2001 and 2005, NM EPSCoR has secured over $74.65 million in new Federal grants for research and education in New Mexico, much of which represents unique new funding opportunities available to us only as an EPSCoR state.

National Science Foundation EPSCoR grants represent $12.95 million in infrastructure awards over six years plus $19.6 million in co-funded awards statewide. Awards from other federal agency EPSCoR programs total $42.1 million and include $1.6 million from the Department of Defense, $0.5 million from the Department of Energy, and $40 million from National Institutes of Health IDEA programs, BRIN/INBRE and COBRE.

NSF NM EPSCoR will provide scientific and educational capabilities in the fields of Hydrology and Nanoscience. This also will provide excellent Educational opportunities for elementary through graduate level students throughout the state.
