Faculty, Leadership and Professional Development Institute (FLPDI)
Faculty Leadership and Professional Development Institute (FLPDI)
Led by Santa Fe Community College, the FLDI will develop an Institute for STEM faculty from NM community and Tribal colleges and non-research universities to improve undergraduate STEM instruction for diverse student populations. Each year, 25 faculty from 10 institutions will participate in a one-day workshop with subsequent on-line training. The faculty will acquire research-based pedagogical tools for today’s adult learners and strategies for recruiting and retaining under-represented minority students in STEM fields, and they will create an online community of colleagues involved in professional development and research. NM EPSCoR research faculty will work with participating community college faculty to identify research projects that can be scaled to a community or Tribal college, and each year, they will form four Colleague Research teams to build the community colleges' capacity to offer authentic research experiences for their students.
STEM Faculty Summer Research Professional Development Program
The STEM Faculty Research Professional Development Program is designed to increase the impact of New Mexico EPSCoR on the undergraduate student population at New Mexico’s non‐PhD granting institutions. The intent of the program is to increase the access of undergraduate students, especially women and members of underrepresented groups, to research experiences by increasing non‐PhD granting institutions’ capacity to provide research experiences for students in a data intensive research environment.
