Uranium Team Members Receive Prestigious Awards

By Natalie Rogers

Two Uranium Transport & Site Remediation Team members—Bonnie Frey and Ginger McLemore—recently received prestigious awards for their hard work and achievements.

Bonnie Frey was this year's recipient of the New Mexico Network for Women in Science and Engineering IMPACT! Award. The NMNWSE IMPACT! award strives to celebrate a New Mexico woman for her achievements and contributions to encourage women to enter into and develop their careers in science, engineering, and allied professions. Bonnie works tirelessly at New Mexico Tech and for our Uranium team, and this award is much deserved. She joins the ranks of two other NM EPSCoR recipients of this award, Laura Crossey and Phyllis Baca. Learn more about the IMPACT! award here. Congratulations, Bonnie!

Ginger McLemore, also on the Uranium team and a Principal Senior Economic Geologist at the Bureau of Geology at New Mexico Tech, was recently selected to receive the 2018 Environmental Stewardship Distinguished Service Award from the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME) and the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers (AIME). The award recognizes Ginger's contributions to the development, conservation and protection of the earth’s environment and natural resources through sustainable practices. The award will be presented at the SME 2018 Annual Conference & Expo in Minneapolis, MN on Tuesday, February 27, 2018. Congratulations, Ginger!
