Southwest Research And Innovation Conference

Funded by the NSF GRANTED program

February 20-21, 2024
Albuquerque, New Mexico

In collaboration with a group of colleges and universities in the Southwest, the University of New Mexico (UNM) in Albuquerque, NM is hosting a conference on February 20-21, 2024 about improving the research development and administration capacity across our geographic region.

Draft  Agenda

The goals of the conference are to:

  • gain an understanding of participating colleges’ and universities’ challenges and priorities,
  • share best practices, and
  • connect research professionals and institutions across the region.

Conference results will inform the NSF GRANTED program which, in turn, should provide resources for building research development and administration capacity at individual institutions.

Up to two participants per institution may attend this conference in-person. Space is limited and participation from emerging research institutions (non-RI) will be prioritized. Depending on interest, a track for virtual participation through Zoom may be added.

Travel Information
Limited funding is available to support expenses for participants who will travel more than 50 miles to attend and whose institutions cannot cover such expenses, through a Partial ($350) or Full ($670) Travel Stipend. In addition, up to six $300 Childcare Stipends are available. Stipends will be issued after the conference and participants will be responsible for making and paying for their own travel arrangements including meals, hotel, and transportation. Registration costs, lunches, and first day reception will be covered by the conference organizers. A room block has been secured at Embassy Suites hotel at the rate of $159/night plus tax. The cutoff date for reservations is January 20, 2024.
