Using Smartsheet to Manage Multi-Institution Research Grants

Multi-institution research projects require management systems that support coordination, compliance, reporting, and resource monitoring across distributed teams. This webinar will provide an overview of how project management software can be incorporated throughout the grant lifecycle, from pre-award planning through post-award execution.

Drawing on active NSF EPSCoR projects at New Mexico State University, the presentation will show how Smartsheet supports proposal planning, work breakdown structures, task and deliverable tracking, structured data collection, compliance monitoring, and sponsor reporting. It will also highlight the use of dashboards to monitor budgets, spending, burn rates, project progress, and potential financial or schedule risks across partner institutions.

The webinar will share practical examples of how centralized project management tools can improve collaboration, strengthen oversight, and create more consistent tracking and reporting processes for complex research awards.
