2024 EPSCoR Research Fellows: What You Need to Know

What is the goal? 

To provide opportunities for non-tenured AND tenured investigators to develop their individual research potential through extended collaborative visits to the Nation’s premier private, governmental, or academic research centers. Only investigators from research universities and primarily undergraduate institutions in EPSCoR states (including NM) are eligible to apply.

What’s new in 2024?

Changes impacting both Tracks:

  • Eligible PIs are faculty at the non-tenured and tenured Assistant and Associate professor ranks (or equivalent ranks)

Changes impacting only the EPSCoR Research Fellows: NSF Track:

  • The number of anticipated awards increased from 30 to 40
  • The anticipated funding amount has increased from $9,000,000 to $12,000,000

Who can be PI?

Budget Details

Up to $300K over the duration of 24 months

  • Up to 6 months of salary & fringe support for PI and one trainee-level participant
  • There are no budgetary caps on travel, lodging, materials, supplies, and other direct costs
  • Up to $10K can be requested for host collaborator fellowship related travel
  • An additional $60K RID grant from NASA for research infrastructure at home institution is available
