STEMAP 2015 Is Underway

Our STEM Advancement Program (STEMAP) welcomes 15 students to the NM EPSCoR community this week at New Mexico Tech. These students hail from nine campuses across New Mexico:
- Diné College
- Eastern New Mexico University
- Eastern New Mexico University – Ruidoso
- Navajo Tech University
- New Mexico State University – Alamogordo
- New Mexico State University – Grants
- Santa Fe Community College
- Western New Mexico University
- University New Mexico – Valencia
These students will be working for the next eight weeks on research at the main campuses of New Mexico State University, New Mexico Tech, and University of New Mexico. Research includes:
- Algae for Energy - Algal Cultivation and Extraction Research
- Encapsulating Living Cells for Biofuel and Bioproducts
- Visualizing Function in Live Cells for Bioenergy Applications
- Imaging Geothermal Systems using Magentotelluric Methods
- Using Geochemical Tracers in Geothermal Systems
- New Mexico’s Energy/Water Future - Attitudes and Preferences Towards Energy Production
- Photons to Fuels and Feedstocks: Solar Energy in New Mexico
- Assessing Uranium Contamination on the Navajo and Laguna Reservations
